Membership Corner – October 2015

 

Hello Presidents and Membership Chairs!

In the world of membership there are some exciting things happening.  Remember this year’s California State PTA membership motto is “Focus on Growth.”  The Council has set a goal of reaching eleven thousand memberships.  This can be accomplished if every unit will make it a goal to increase their membership by 1%.  I know we collectively can do this.  Be confident, aggressive and creative on how to achieve your membership goals.  Don’t forget you have resources readily available to make you successful at the online membership pages of www.CAPTA.org.  Always talk about the importance and the perks of becoming a member of PTA.

The arrival of the long awaited electronic card is here.  There will now be three options to handle the issuing of membership cards.  They are the electronic card, paper, or a combination of both.  The electronic card has changed the way we have issued cards.  The first step in requesting this format is to follow this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2015-16ECard.  Once you have clicked on the link you will be asked some basic questions and then how many electronic cards you would like.  Remember to be diligent with this request if you plan to use the paper version as well or you can make the decision to go all with electronic cards.  Although, you might want to be careful with that, ensure your population is fully capable of accepting this version.  Once your request has been approved by the California State PTA, you will receive three attachments to the designated email sent.  It will come with an easy to follow instruction sheet on how to process your cards.

The paper version is still available and can be requested through the Council.  Just send an email request to membership@sdcoucilpta.org.  We can send membership cards by school mail, so please use the school address on where to send them and how many you need.

As you are signing family members up for your unit PTA’s.  This year you will be submitting your membership rosters via email to membership@sdcouncilpta.org with the template provided on the Council website.  This will go along with your unit remittance submissions which you can mail or hand deliver to council.  As a reminder, all PTA units in SDUSD must remit $5.75 per member and you must use the Remittance form also available from our website under “Forms”.

Some general housekeeping items that need to be submitted to council.  Your board rosters need to be sent in as soon as possible, your validation of the Worker’s Comp form, your Council Assessment fee, and your insurance payment.
